Tony Moon is one of the legendary "Rooftop Koreans" who defended their Los Angeles communities during the 1992 L.A. Riots. Born in former West Germany to South Korean parents who met as laborers under the 1963 labor-for-loan agreement--his father in the coal mines, his mother in nursing--the family immigrated to the United States in 1977. Tony came of age on the turbulent streets of South Central Los Angeles and Koreatown.

A licensed mortgage broker with a bachelor's in logistics from USC and an MBA in finance from Cal State LA, Moon is also a mixed martial arts gym owner and security consultant dedicated to teaching self-defense and community protection. He has appeared on popular podcasts including the Unsubscribe Podcast to share his firsthand account of the riots.

His debut memoir captures the raw reality of those events and the enduring lessons of resilience and self-reliance.

Tony lives in Los Angeles with his teenage son and daughter, his dogs Hannah and Luna, and his tortoise Pipsqueak.
