Hereward Carrington (1880-1958) was one of the most fascinating psychical researchers of the early twentieth century. He studied numerous mediums, debunked many, but believed in others-particularly Eusapia Palladino. Carrington wrote extensively about his adventures with the Italian psychic in Eusapia Palladino and Her Phenomena, as well as other books. He also famously had an affair with Mina "Margery" Crandon, known as the Witch of Lime Street, in the 1920s. Carrington's interest in the unusual led to a prolific writing career, including this title, which is a faithful reproduction of the original 1915 edition-including the advertisements at the back. The original "Publisher's Note" included in this edition offers more information about this unique author. As for the true ghost stories found within these pages, well, they are true in that they are indeed ghost stories. But whether there's truth to the stories is for the reader to decide.
