Collins Big Cat is a whole-school programme that provides complete support for primary reading used in thousands of schools in more than 100 countries around the world.
- Gives helpful tips on how to identify the right book for each student, ideas for pre-reading activities to spark students' curiosity through inquiry-led approaches, as well as recommendations for follow-up and assessment.
- Provides an overview of titles in the collections, containing a wide range of creative and informative fiction and non-fiction titles chosen to generate enthusiasm and curiosity, helping students to develop knowledge and understanding of themselves, each other, their communities and the wider world.
- Shows how Big Cat readers can be embedded into your PYP classroom and offers suggestions of how to use the books according to the transdisciplinary themes.
- Offers a range of reading levels to allow maximum flexibility for use with learners whose first language isn't English.
- Encourages pertinent questions and emphasises the importance of listening to the views of others across a range of contexts from the personal to the global, always with international mindedness at the heart.
