When Edin, a young engineer, arrives at an isolated scientific research station, he finds that very little is as it first appears. He is treated with a polite, work-focused detachment that seems to be the norm in the station. However relationships between his colleagues are soon revealed to be as densely complex as their cramped confines. With the weak sun setting for the winter, Edin reaches out to the brittle Leila for warmth and companionship. What follows is nothing like what he might have expected. So begins the lead novella in a series of connected tales that explore themes of betrayal, guilt, mental breakdown and forgiveness against the backdrop of a shifting twilight dreamscape: one where nothing is ever quite as it seems - where truth and reality reveal themselves only in glimpses, being otherwise obscured by the shadow of dusk.
