Lost lake is about a special landscape, the North Carolina Coastal Plains, where an endless sea of pines shelters the little town of Sandborough, which is fading with the tobacco farming economy. Into this landscape comes entrepreneur Todd Advent, with his plan for a giant theme park, Lost Lake/Mummy Mountain, that will turn Sandborough into a Destination. The bizarre theme park, with its relentlessly bogus attractions, is only the beginning, because Todd has figured out the real, ultimate use of the cheap land around Sandborough, in a scheme so heinous that it must be kept secret at any cost. Opposing this plan are a group of colorful local characters, including Sandy, the manager of Mimi's Tanning Shack and two-time winner of the Miss Teenage Sandborough pageant; her boyfriend Mark, a physics-dropout HVAC serviceman; Clyde, a swashbuckling helicopter pilot and Bob, who is making a nature film in the kitchens of a failing barbecue restaurant.
