Jan Oldenburg is a nationally recognized thought leader on consumer health information strategy and personal health engagement. Through her consulting firm, Participatory Health Consulting, she helps organizations create and implement strategies related to digital health technology and personal health engagement. Jan has held a number of roles within EY's Advisory Practice; as the Vice President of Patient and Provider Engagement in Accountable Care Solutions at Aetna and as a senior leader in Kaiser Permanente's digital strategy group, as well as founding roles in several consulting companies focusing on strategies for using digital technologies effectively in health care. She is the primary author/editor of Participatory Healthcare: A Person-Centered Approach to Healthcare Transformation, published by CRC press in August of 2016. She is also the primary editor of Engage! Transforming Healthcare through Digital Patient Engagement, published by HIMSS in March, 2013. Engage! was the best-selling book at National HIMSS in 2013 as well as during the 2013-2014 calendar year. It received the "Best Book" award at HIMSS14. She wrote the "Personal Health Engagement" chapter for the Third Edition of Medical Informatics, published in May of 2015 and the "Patient Portals: Enabling Participatory Medicine" chapter for The Journey Never Ends: Technology's Role in Helping Perfect Health Care Outcomes, published in February 2016. Jan is on the board of the Society for Participatory Medicine (SPM). I recently completed 2-year term as Co-Chair of the National HIMSS Connected Health Committee. Previously she has been a member of the Consumer Empowerment Workgroup (CEWG) of the Health IT Policy Committee (HITPC) of ONC. She was also an active member of the board of the Northern California chapter of HIMSS for many years holding roles including President, Past President, Vice President and Secretary. |
